- Question.
- When trying to preview a PDF attached to a Task processing screen or similar in Questetra BPM Suite using the magnifying glass icon, the following message is displayed in Google Chrome:
- (Domain of the workflow infrastructure) is blocked
- This page has been blocked by Chrome
- ERR_BLOCKED_BY_CLIENT
Even with the same version of Chrome, there are devices that can display it and devices that cannot.
- Answer.
- This error is displayed when communication is blocked inside Chrome. In many cases, the cause is a Chrome extension. Because installed extensions differ from device to device, results vary by device even on the same version of Chrome.
The domain of the workflow infrastructure is the domain displayed in the address bar when opening Questetra BPM Suite (e.g., example.questetra.net).
Isolating the Cause
On Chrome on the device where the preview cannot be displayed, please check in the following order:
- Preview in an Incognito window: Only extensions with “Allow in Incognito” turned on will run in an Incognito window. If any extensions have this setting enabled, turn that setting off first. Then, open an Incognito window, log in to the workflow infrastructure, and preview the same PDF.
- If it displays: The cause is an extension. Proceed to Step 2.
- If an Incognito window cannot be opened: Proceed to Step 2.
- If it fails to display: Proceed to Step 3.
- Identify the extension causing the issue: Type
chrome://extensionsin the address bar to open the list of extensions. Turn off one active extension at a time and attempt the preview again. When it displays successfully, the extension you turned off last is the cause. Turn non-offending extensions back on, then proceed to “How to Resolve”. If it still does not display after turning off all toggleable extensions, proceed to Step 3. - Check extensions installed by an administrator: If there are extensions in the extension list (
chrome://extensions) marked with “Installed by your administrator”, that extension may be the cause. Since you cannot turn it off yourself, please consult your internal device administrator. If there are no such extensions, proceed to Step 4. - Investigate causes other than extensions: Consult your internal device administrator. When doing so, attach the error screen displayed and inform them that you have confirmed extensions are not the cause in Steps 1 through 3.
How to Resolve
Address the extension causing the issue using one of the following methods:
- Keep the extension turned off
- For extensions like ad blockers that allow disabling operation on specified sites, turn it back on and configure it so it does not operate on the domain of the workflow infrastructure
