Workflow Apps created in the Questetra BPM Suite App Settings can be exported as an App Archive (QAR file). The exported file can be saved to your PC or sent as an attachment. Also, if you import the QAR into Questetra BPM Suite, a new App with the saved settings will be added.

Exporting App Definition

You can export an App Archive from the App Detail screen of Questetra’s App Settings. The App definition will be exported as a QAR file by clicking the [Export Archive] button to download the Developing version (the contents of the Workflow Diagram displayed below), or one of the icons in the list to download the previous versions (including the latest active version).

  • The filename given to a QAR file will be;
    • {APP NAME}_ver_editing.qar (Developing version)
    • {APP NAME}_ver{VERSION NUMBER}.qar (Previous version)
  • The App Archive (QAR) has an expiration date
    • That is, about 3 years after it was created (exported from Questetra BPM Suite), it can no longer be imported
    • This is due to updates of the Questetra BPM Suite itself because if the difference between the version at the time the archive file was created and the version of the workflow platform to be imported is too large, the functions or specifications will not be supported

The information included and not included in an App Archive

The App Archive (QAR) is the output of the settings defined in the Workflow App in QAR file format.
Many definitions such as Workflow Diagrams and Data Items are included in the QAR file, whereas, security-related items such as authentication settings and items that depend on the workflow platform such as User/Organization information are not included.

Reference: Apps, Processes, Tasks and their Relationships
